Desperate Measures / Metalworks
Even when “dry,” all wood continues to move, at least in the seasonal weather of New England. And very often, it cracks. We nurture its slow drying in big paper bags, which wick the water away, rather than plastic which traps moisture and leads to mildew. But giving in to the organic reality of wood movement, I also continue to work on this series of spoofy pieces called Desperate Measures, pretending to try to fix pieces which I’ve purposely encouraged to crack.

All earnestness aside, sometimes it’s hard to resist the fun of found objects, especially at the fashionable town dump of Aspen, Colorado.
